How To Help Those Affected By Hurricane Ida In New Orleans
Attn:
Hurricane Ida has impacted New Orleans in a major way.
It has triggered many locals due to it’s landing being on the 16th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the intensity of this Hurricane being stronger than that of Katrina.
The aftermath of Ida has left Nola with no power potentially up to 1 month, locals exposed to 100+ degrees of Heat & Humidity with no AC, limited reception for communication, scarce food, gas and resources for basic human needs. Hospitals are packed to capacity due to Covid, Roads are blocked and Water isn’t Accessible. And locals are fearful of potential looting & chaos that can amass from having no Power.
For those that managed to evacuate, they did so with a small amount of clothes packed, limited funds and no clue where to go. Local hotels are booked to capacity even in neighboring cities or food/hotel prices are gouging due to Labor Day approaching or the desire to take advantage of the evacuation and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. And there is no certainty on when to return and what condition their homes will be in, once they do.
If you are in a position to assist in any capacity, here are some resources and tips in which you can do so:
Continue to repost stories on (IG, Twitter, FB) that offer assistance, tips & places for locals to receive aid in New Orleans. Don’t underestimate how much of an impact you can make by re-sharing. Many ppl have been able to receive help due to the info in the stories or evacuate when they assumed they could not. You can start by reposting the resources on my IG stories: @TatiannaTarot
If you are Spiritual “Practitioner”, Hoodoo, Spiritualist, Ifa-Orisa Devotee, Vodou Devotee, Reiki Practitioner, etc - head to your shrines to pray, send energy, light a candle and assist the people of New Orleans during this time of need. We all love the Big Easy for it’s Spiritual Hold and to enjoy Spiritual Events there - time to give back to the city you love and the people that make it so.
